When I sat down to talk to Gabe in March last year, he was about to graduate. I asked him about the social and identity dynamics at Vassar which I was just beginning to question, but he’d been pushing back against them for almost four years. The edited interview continues a series on expressions of masculinity at Vassar and other liberal arts colleges. Here, Gabe finds throughlines from his childhood to the version of himself that left campus in the Spring of 2017.
First broadcast as part of Audio Picnic’s “Gender” episode on WVKR 91.3 FM.
