Recondite Dreams is a series that plays on memory. I took these photos while we were devising a play based on Evelyn Waugh’s Vile Bodies, a book about 20s’ decadence. I chose to shoot vintage atmospheres that make me think about the prolonged life of the elements that make up collective experience. They evoke obsolescence and the sense of carrying more meaning than we could ever attribute to them. Through objects that look like the remnants of someone else’s life, I thought of the stories that we tell, and how we become but memories as well. It’s a haunting notion of oblivion, and the weight of things. How will you be remembered?
