Mission Statement

boilerplate/ boilərˌplāt/ (n.):
writing that is clichéd or expresses a generally accepted opinion or belief.

We; are an alternative news source based at Vassar College that aims to publish radical pieces and creative works which address issues through a socially conscious lens. We strive to provide an inclusive space which understands that race, gender, class, sexuality, nationality, disability and other identity formations are personal and distinct yet intersect, overlap and bridge one another. We recognize the structural and institutional inequalities that oppress and silence voices that deviate from the norm -- and the goal of our work is to bring these marginalized voices to the center, to redefine the boilerplate so to speak. By reclaiming this term, our magazine strives to provide a multimedia platform and an engaging forum, one that promotes constructive dialogue and inclusion of all -- especially marginalized -- voices, none of which are undeserving of recognition.
